Yes I know exactly what the skills are and what is being proposed to them. I still say this update won't actually be as big as everyone thinks it will be due to half of it probably going to have to be reverted due to the mass amount of bitching it will take.

I thought I already gave that answer.

Also (regarding the bolded part):

I just want Ursan left the way it is, and all other pve skills buffed. Especially the ones no one exept me uses. Scrubs ftw!

Way to miss. Many other devs are always facing an angry mob of players who say "such and such is too hard" or "such and such isn't easy enough" - generally people who don't want to think too hard or devote a whole lot of effort to certain tasks. You see people like these 24/7 in places like the WoW and TF2 forums, but do the devs give into their wishes? They do not. Are they bad and unsuccessful games for doing so? Hardly.

Granted, there are going to be plenty of people of people who are upset with Ursan being nerfed (how big the group is compared to the other really can't be brought in for debate), but what will that mean? Would it really be a loss? Is it "tragic" for a game to lose players who only liked it for it's cheat codes and exploits (hypothetical)? Is it a "bad game decision" to take out an option that allowed the game to complete boss battles for you?

It will suck to lose a few players to this, but it's always best to look at the big picture: if you lose players simply because of UB, are you really losing much? Is it really a loss to lose a player who didn't care about what makes your game unique? You can't make a game for everyone (and as a little side note, we have no idea what the "Ursan lovers" plan to do if it becomes nerfed. There may be those who continue to stay, and there may be those who leave (and whom I wouldn't be too upset with leaving)). The tradeoff can, at times, be tough - but one thing is for sure. Games don't go down in history because they had a lot of players. They remain definite and solitary because they're good. Appeasing to low IQs isn't the only way to make cash. It is also possible, although it may not sound like it, to actually be successful from a game because it's quality. Strange, right?

But more than anything, though, is that without a doubt that group the brings in the most cash - the casual, silent, blissfully ignorant majority - isn't going to care. And because of that, Guild Wars will continue to do good financially no matter what the next update brings.

I am expecting:
  • The first major Ursan nerf.
  • more nerfs on Shadow Form to make solo UW farming and boss farming impossible
  • HoM related updates
  • possibly see some elite skills improved
  • maybe more mobs (im guessin they might change some skil bars on most popular farming areas like the UW or raptors)
  • well basically, anything that might involve nerfing farming a lot, like nerfing Obby Tank build, then it would definitely be impossible to solo farm anywhere with it.

Unlikely, given the sole game designer working on GW1 is herself an avowed solo farmer. You would know this if you read the journal post this thread points to.

The fact that an ANet employee wrote about their ideas and processes (which is what we apparently wanted from the beginning) and all the 90% of the community can do is moan and bitch about late notices really shows the contradictory we all withhold.

Really, I feel lucky we have people on the inside that tell us their plans every now and then instead of throwing shit at us like monkeys. At least they admitted what was going around the workplace instead of making some lame excuse like weddings...

For the people who are looking forward to this update, that shows dedication. But for the rest of you, whining about past mistakes doesn't do shit besides make you feel better or accepted by the majority of the bitchfest.

I, myself, have faith.

So .... I am guessing that Ursan-like concept would be acceptable in something like ... Starcraft? Pacman? Tetris? Mario?
We're dealing with GW.
And A.Net.

How about if the question set is if it's really a loss to lose people that do not like the game in the current state?
And what if the answer they come up with is "no"?
Can the people here deal with THAT?

I don't see how people can still come here after 3 years and still go on and on about how A.Net SHOULD act like if what we were shown is that they didn't act like that for the last 3 years.
How about if we just accepted that their actions aren't "mistakes" but rather a normal way of functioning?

Well let's just wait and see what Anet is gonna nerf/buff/wreck this time around.

So, we should expect a whole new expansion with the next update?

No, but I'd like to expect a whole new game (in terms of making new builds and not having everything so one-sided like it is now). Both PVE and PVP are really lacking in build diversity right now.

I'm looking forward to this update and hope it makes me enjoy the game a lot more than I am right now.

I agree here. Mistake implies we are surprised to see something subpar. I don't know why I always expect a "mistake-less" update when I see these threads. What I should be hoping for is a mistake as for Anet to not provide the normal update would be a great thing

Some weapon system rework would be welcomed too...

Like better customization so more weapons are customized and more room is made for new drops in the market...
Making the inscription system worldwide...

Hm... uniformity... *Homer-style droll*

I think no matter the changes there should be no reverts. Theres nothing worse then them spending a month on updates and then changing most of them back at the end of the week.

I am expecting:
-another minor ursan nerf. Nothing significant, no way anet would risk the mass hysteria. Goal: the QQers can finally stfu.
-changes in the HoM by making it easier to fill with titles and weapons. Goal: after grinding their ass off, the ursans can now see the fruit of their mindless button-mashing.
-major skill tweaks, slow as usual but at least it is coming.

Woot! *cheers* *prays that it's a HOM update since I just spent a bundle on a Tormented bow to add it*

I think Ursan is fine the way it is, see no reason to nerf it. It should be used in hard mode so that it's easier to do all the vanquishing and get guardian titles.

But anyway, hope the update is the HOM one that's been discussed for quite some time. *keeps fingers crossed*

...Which derives the point of Hard Mode...
